Clinical Training

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Loyola University, New Orleans in 1997 and master and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (currently known as Palo Alto University). While in graduate school, I had the privilege of being part of a research team studying the attachment of babies for their mothers. This was my introduction to understanding the significance of how connection with a caregiver informs future cognitive, emotional, and mental development.

I became a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California in 2004. My academic training started as a child/adolescent therapist working in outpatient clinics and schools. I spent two years at the UC Davis Counseling Center working with young adults and a year at Kaiser Permanente in the Child and Adolescent Department for my postdoctoral residency. For 15 years, I provided individual and group psychotherapy at Kaiser Permanente in the Adult Mental Health Department, specializing in earlier trauma. I also discovered my love for working with couples and helping them identify challenges connecting with each other.

Mentoring the next generation of therapists has consistently been a passion throughout my career. I served as a clinical supervisor for practicum students at the UC Davis Counseling Center, helped establish the Adult Postdoctoral Program for the Kaiser North Valley Sacramento area, and worked as a clinical supervisor for postdoctoral residents.
